We bought these for our kids so they would have a way to communicate whilst operating around our neighborhood. One particular of the radios arrived with a strap broken off at the junction to the base. The enterprise stated they would replace it, but we decided to keep that one as the "home base" unit and use the remaining three for the children. This turned out to be a mistake. All 3 have broken at the exact similar location. Also, now the retractable antennae have started to break off...we have a single radio left with an antenna. Nevertheless, with that stated, even with out the antenna, the radios have very good reception around the neighborhood to a range of approximately 1/2 mile or so. We have ordered some Motorola replacements--they are not watches, but hopefully will be additional sturdy.
I would not recommend these due to the poor craftsmanship of the exterior regardless of the reception high-quality.
Nice wrist radios for open spaces, but have limitaions inside buildings. Overall, good radios with clear transmission and reception.
