I purchased the 2-way radio for our cruise we took. I purchased it after reading about comparable cobra merchandise and liked the fact that batteries were rechargeable. After the initial charge the 2-way radio worked fine. We could communicate on the ship with every other to find where the other was, the voice was clear and crisp. One draw back was not possessing sub-channels on this item, as a outcome we could hear other conversations from other users. Even though the function lists 16 mile range, I would say the maximum range was about 1 to 1.5 miles on an island devoid of any key obstacles. The initial charge lasted a whereas but when the initial charge was gone, 1 of the radios would not recharge again and following a although the other failed to recharge. I tried charging for more than 2 days but still no luck. I do not know exactly where the failure was, if it was the charger or the batteries themselves. I certainly like these radios but had been useless with out recharge so I ended up in returning to Amazon.
I also purchased this at Walmart. Charged it up for 15 hours per instructions. The wall charger under no circumstances even got warm. Indicator nonetheless showed much less than 10% charge. Place in fresh AAA's, very same deal. Boxed them back up and returned next day.
